Caring is a fundamental value in Danish daycare and pedagogical work, but it is under pressure and rarely on the political agenda. In other words, care in daycare in 2024 seems embedded in a complex intersection between necessity (children need care) and obscurity (it is taken for granted). With this project, we intend to investigate and strengthen the pedagogical care in the pedagogy education program and in daycares, with the purpose of e.g. creating increased political awareness of care and its importance.
The interdisciplinary research team contributes expertise within didactics, pedagogical psychology and childhood research across the two sub-projects.
An expert panel will be established with three Nordic care researchers who will function as critical and inspiring dialogue partners. In addition, a large number of internship institutions and 10 daycares from two municipalities in Zealand are included in the collaboration.
