In January 2021, Aarhus University opened DTL Ringkøbing-Skjern. The laboratory is the first of several laboratories strategically located in the Central Denmark Region with a focus on the digital transformation. The overall purpose of the project is to add new research-based knowledge to the production industry in the municipality, so that companies join the new industrial wave, where the digital world is integrated with physical production.
For each DTL, a physical laboratory is built and in collaboration with municipalities and the business community, the focus of the laboratory is decided. In Ringkøbing-Skjern, the focus is on Digital twins.
The laboratories are created in close collaboration between the local business community, the local municipalities and Aarhus University. In this way, a link to the entire value chain for new knowledge in Denmark is ensured. Universities can provide research and knowledge to the business community and conversely, can the business community provide cases and evaluate the research in practice.
The laboratories will be connected through the local lab managers and a central hub at Aarhus University. This makes the laboratories a hub that ensures a flow between research-based knowledge from AU and practice-based knowledge at companies throughout the region.
